About

Peel back the layers of the universe and visit the quantum, microscopic, classical and cosmic scales. Create waypoints to return to as you journey. Enjoy a tour of your discoveries in a calming zen-like experience.

Scale Space is a great way to relax, play with physics and learn more about how everything works.

You will:

  • Use physics controls like Equilibrium, Coherence, Viscosity and Mass to traverse an infinite parameter space.
  • Witness cosmic phenomena that is normally only visible through a telescope
  • Experience the microscopic and quantum worlds without the use of a microscope
  • Uncover fascinating mathematical shapes like vortices, Lissajous figures, and knots
  • Watch ecosystems of emergent life compete for resources, divide, play, and hunt

And the best part—You don't need to know math to do all of this.

Tools used:

Scale Space Causmonaut (windows only)

  • Unreal Engine Blueprints

Scale Space Bioclast (windows, mac, linux)

  • WebGL
  • Three.js
  • Antigravity
Note: Buying Scale Space gives you access to both Scale Space Causmonaut and Scale Space Bioclast.
These are two different versions of software built using the same underlying principles of emergence.

Uh, my ship needs to calm down.  Deadly levels of radiation aren't the end of the world or anything.  Every time I find something cool it's like "Run!  We are dying."

Haha! Well the tip I'll give you is- it's based on your computer's real entropy so the warnings mean your framerate is dropping. That's why it happens when you find the cool stuff :) Here are some mitigation tricks:

  • Keep your distance from more complex things (imagine that they're hotter)
  • Look away from complex things to give your system a break
  • Zoom back from complex things using mouse scroll or the zoom buttons
  • Use different viewmodes to reduce the load on your computer (for example, some of the glow effects are more taxing so if you turn them off, you can look at more complex things)
  • If you get absolutely stuck in a nightmare, you can click the entropy button and it will send you back to the void where all the parameters reset and your system can reset as well.

I made this feature because when I tested it-turns out everyone who plays the game pushes to the maximum complexity their computer can handle, so this system gives you a way to know how close you are to frame drops. If you want to turn it off- you can control voice and sfx in the top left options!

I love how you gave it a spaceship feel.  It's an extra layer of fun on top of the pretty pictures.  Wonderful!

👊😊

Was bummed I couldn't play, don't know how I missed the demo lol.  Without a sliver of sarcasm, I truly believe it's games like these that drive the medium forward.

Ah that's very kind of you to say, thank you! 🔥 Please do report back on your experience playing it!

Will do!
